iD Mobile is owned by Currys plc and it’s a Three MVNO (mobile virtual network operator), meaning it has the same coverage as Three.
It’s one of the bigger names in MVNOs and it has some unusual perks going for it, like data rollover, among other things.
Below, you’ll find more details of what iD Mobile has to offer, its coverage, and how to improve its signal if you’re having signal difficulties on the network.
iD Mobile has 4G and 5G coverage, but in most parts of the UK it doesn’t offer 3G, as Three has largely switched this off now – but the UK’s other networks are doing the same thing, and it’s a good thing, as it means they have more resources to put towards 4G and 5G.
iD Mobile has a lot of selling points, including the aforementioned data rollover, ensuring that you have a second month to get through your data allowance.
On top of that, the network also has ‘iD Perks’, which is a rewards scheme, providing iD Mobile customers with exclusive discounts and savings from other brands.
iD Mobile also sells a wider selection of plans than most MVNOs, with one, 12, and 24-month SIM Only plans, Pay Monthly phones, and Pay As You Go.
The network also offers plans with unlimited data, you can optionally use an eSIM, there’s inclusive roaming in over 50 destinations, and you can tether and make use of Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling.
To check iD Mobile’s network status you can head to iD’s network status checker Just enter a postcode to see if any issues have been reported in that area.
If you’re not seeing any issues but have reason to think there are some, you could also head to iD Mobile’s Downdetector page, where users of the network can report issues.
If you’re experiencing signal issues on iD Mobile – or any network – and are somewhere where the network claims to have signal, there are various things you can potentially do.
Your first step should be to check the links above, to see if iD Mobile is reporting any issues. If it is, then you’ll probably just have to wait for them to be resolved – but in the meantime you could make use of Wi-Fi Calling to stay in touch with people, assuming you’re somewhere with a Wi-Fi network.
Wi-Fi Calling is a feature offered by iD Mobile and many other networks, which lets you seamlessly make and receive calls, and send and receive texts, over a Wi-Fi network rather than a mobile network.
Wi-Fi Calling could also help if the signal issues are caused by something else, but there are other ways you can potentially address some issues.
For one thing, your phone could be having difficulties, so to see if that’s the culprit, try turning airplane mode on and then off, and if that doesn’t help, then try turning the phone off and back on.
You should also check that you have the latest software installed, and if the battery is low, give that a charge, as that can help too.
That should fix most phone issues, but if it doesn’t fix your problem then consider your surroundings – if you’re in a building (and not one where you know you usually get signal) then that could be blocking the signal.
Similarly other obstacles such as thick tree cover or temporary structures can also block signal, and bad weather can have an impact too. So consider changing location or waiting for the weather to clear up.
If none of the above seems to be the problem or solution, you can get in touch with iD Mobile for more assistance. Just head to iD’s live chat page.
iD Mobile has the same coverage as Three, but it’s not alone in that. Smarty, Honest Mobile, and Superdrug Mobile also have this same coverage.
iD Mobile offers free roaming in over 50 destinations abroad (up to a 30GB fair usage limit). Specifically, you can roam in:
Austria, Azerbaijan, Azores, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guiana, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Jersey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madeira, Malta, Martinique, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Vatican City.
iD Mobile itself doesn’t have coverage in these places, but you can seamlessly connect on partner networks, as is the case when roaming with any of the UK’s networks.
