Lyca Mobile Coverage Checker

Lyca Mobile is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that’s partnered with EE, so it has coverage in the same places. That’s good news, because EE has better 5G coverage than some networks at the time of writing, and its speeds are also competitive.

Lyca Mobile – which has been in the business since 2006 – has some selling points of its own though, with a particular focus on international calling, but plenty of things to like beyond that too.

Below, you’ll find more details of Lyca Mobile’s selling points, along with the types of mobile coverage it has, its roaming terms, and tips on how to check and improve your Lyca Mobile signal.

What types of mobile coverage does Lyca Mobile have?

Lyca Mobile – like EE – has 5G, 4G, and 2G coverage. There’s no 3G because EE – along with most of the UK’s networks – has switched this off, in order to focus more on its 5G and 4G networks.

So the lack of 3G will actually be a good thing for most customers, since 5G and 4G networks are faster and more modern.

What are the selling points of Lyca Mobile?

Lyca Mobile’s biggest selling point is arguably the fact that you get international minutes included with its plans – typically either 100 or unlimited each month.

In most cases these minutes can be used to call: Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United States.

Continuing with that international focus, you can also roam in the EU at no extra cost, and many Lyca Mobile plans also offer inclusive roaming in India – which is unusual.

But even if you’re not interested in international calling or frequent roaming, you might want to consider Lyca Mobile, as it sells both Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go plans, with a choice of 30-day, 12-month, and 24-month durations.

Most come with unlimited UK calls and texts, and you can also get up to unlimited data. 5G comes as standard, you can optionally choose an eSIM, and the network offers Wi-Fi Calling, 4G Calling, and tethering.

How can I check Lyca Mobile’s network status?

Lyca Mobile shares EE’s network, so if you head to EE’s coverage page and enter the postcode you want to check, you’ll be able to see if there are any network problems in the area, along with seeing the 5G, 4G, and 2G coverage.

Alternatively, you could head to Lyca Mobile’s Downdetector page and see if users are reporting problems with the network.

What can I do to improve signal?

If there’s no coverage in your area or if Lyca Mobile’s network is reporting problems, then you might be out of luck as far as signal goes, but until any issues are resolved or coverage is expanded to reach your area, you could make use of Wi-Fi Calling. This allows you to call and text using your normal Lyca Mobile number, but over Wi-Fi rather than a mobile network.

As long as you have a Wi-Fi network available, Wi-Fi Calling is something you can always turn to, no matter what the cause of your signal problems, but in some cases you may be able to improve the signal yourself.

You can’t build a mast, but if Lyca Mobile theoretically has coverage where you are yet you aren’t getting any signal, then you could try turning airplane mode on and then off again on your phone, as this can sometimes help it connect. Similarly, turning the phone off and then on can help clear signal issues sometimes.

You might also find that charging your phone (if the battery is low) or installing any available software updates helps with signal problems.

Your environment could also be the problem – if you’re indoors or near things that could block a signal, like temporary structures or thick tree cover, then you could try changing your location. Bad weather can also cause signal problems, so while you might just have to wait for that to clear, at least that could give you an indication of why you’re struggling to get a signal.

Failing all that, you can reach out to Lyca Mobile for assistance. Just dial 322 from a Lyca Mobile phone or 020 7132 0322 if calling from another phone.

What other networks use Lyca Mobile’s network?

Lyca Mobile uses EE’s network, and a lot of other MVNOs do too. Specifically, 1pMobile, Spusu, Talk Home, Ecotalk, Boshhh, CMLink, IQ Mobile, Now Mobile, Popit Mobile, Utility Warehouse, Mozillion, Slice Mobile, and Your Co-Op.

Does Lyca Mobile have coverage abroad?

Lyca Mobile has roaming agreements with networks abroad, so you can keep using your phone when you’re on holiday.

You can do this at no extra cost (up to a variable fair usage limit) in: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain, with some plans also offering roaming in India.
