Spusu Mobile Coverage

Spusu isn’t one of the most well-known MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators), but it is one of the newest, having only launched back in 2023.

Or at least, that’s when it launched in the UK, but it’s an international brand that made its debut in Austria in 2015.

Still, it’s the UK arm that we’re focused on here, and that uses EE’s coverage to provide a mobile signal to its customers.

What types of mobile coverage does Spusu have?

Spusu has the same types of mobile coverage as EE, specifically 5G, 4G, and 2G coverage. There’s no 3G because EE – like most of the UK’s networks – has now switched its 3G service off, in order to focus on 4G and 5G.

What are the selling points of Spusu?

Spusu doesn’t have a large selection of plans, but it does give you up to unlimited data, and as its SIM Only plans are all 30-day rolling ones, you have the flexibility to change or cancel your plan whenever you want.

Spusu also provides 5G as standard, and unusually for a UK network its plans also come with 500 monthly minutes that can be used to call anywhere in the EU from the UK – that’s in addition to unlimited minutes for calling the UK with.

Additionally, Spusu’s plans come with inclusive roaming in the EU and Switzerland (up to a variable fair usage limit), and while the only plans it sells are SIM Only ones, there are also a small number of smartphones that you can buy outright from the network.

Plus, with Spusu you can tether and use Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling. You can also choose either a normal SIM card or an eSIM, optionally set a spending cap, and there are no credit checks.

How can I check Spusu’s network status?

You can check Spusu’s network status on Spusu’s coverage and network status checker page. Just enter a postcode, and then it will tell you the coverage in that area, and alert you if there are any known network issues.

You might also want to check Spusu’s Downdetector page, to see if other users have reported problems with the network.

What can I do to improve signal?

There are various potential ways to improve your signal on Spusu, but it will depend on what’s causing the lack of signal.

However, whatever the cause, one solution that should work is Wi-Fi Calling, as this lets you call and text over a Wi-Fi network in exactly the same way as you would over a mobile network – though of course that means there needs to be a Wi-Fi network available, so it’s less useful when you’re outside.

If Spusu itself is reporting network issues, or you see a lot of issues reported on Downdetector, then any signal problems will probably be resolved soon, but you’ll have to wait for the network to fix them – so in that case all you can really do is use Wi-Fi Calling while you wait.

Similarly, if there’s no coverage in your area, then there’s not much you can do other than rely on Wi-Fi Calling. Spusu’s coverage is improving rapidly, but some areas may still be waiting a while – especially for 5G.

But if you’re in an area that supposedly does have coverage, and there aren’t any network issues reported, then there might be things you yourself can do to improve matters.

For one thing, the issue could then be your phone, so to test for this, try turning airplane mode on and then off again, and if that doesn’t help, try turning your phone off and then on again.

That’s often enough to clear any issues, but other potential fixes include installing any available operating system updates, and charging the battery.

It’s also possible that something in your surroundings is blocking the signal. This could be walls, temporary structures, thick tree cover, or any number of other things. So if you can identify a possible culprit, try and move away from it. In some cases bad weather can affect phone signal too, so if there’s a storm or something, see if things improve once the weather does.

And if you’re still without signal and can’t work out why, then get in touch with Spusu on 07356 010100.

What other networks use Spusu’s network?

Spusu has the same coverage as EE, and the following networks also have that coverage: 1pMobile Lyca Mobile, Talk Home, Ecotalk, Boshhh, CMLink, IQ Mobile, Now Mobile, Popit Mobile, Utility Warehouse, Mozillion, Slice Mobile, and Your Co-Op.

Does Spusu have coverage abroad?

Spusu has roaming agreements with networks abroad, so you can still use your allowance of minutes, texts, and data when outside the UK.

If you’re in the EU or Switzerland then you can do this at no extra cost – though note that there’s a fair usage limit that varies depending on the plan you’re on.
